I’m gonna get a pen and put it on top of your head and see if it rolls off.

All summer I have been driving Jeremy crazy about getting the nursery set up.  He keeps reminding me that our baby girl isn't showing up until October. He is right, but he let me win anyway.  Here are some pictures of the nursery.  It is pretty much done. All I want now is to get the curtains hung, but I figure I'll give Jeremy a break for a bit.

The changing table and baskets are from IKEA. I made the artwork on the walls. We got the mirror from Tai-Pan awhile ago, but I thought it would look great in the nursery
Jeremy owned that giant chair before we got married.  Words cannot describe how comfortable that chair is.  I'll tell you right now though, it is really hard to get out of when you have a giant stomach that likes to get in the way. I was beyond excited when Jeremy set up the crib.  I LOVE white cribs.  I think they are adorable.

I bought the mobile on Amazon.  It was my big splurge.  I couldn't help it though; it is simply adorable.  I made the pennant banner out of left over fabric from the crib quilt.

I put my sewing skills to the test with this room.  I made the crib quilt and the elephant pillow.

This cute rocking chair was given to us by Jeremy's mom.  It was her's when she was a little girl.  I absolutely love it, and I know that baby girl will too!

The rocking chair was a garage sale find for only $8.  I spray painted it because it had definitely seen better days. The hamper I got from TJ Maxx, and the elephant mask I made in high school.

I love how the nursery turned out!  Now I just need my little girl to show up and we will be good to go.  Only 2 months left!

To see how I painted the walls, check out this post.

We’re going to stage an intervention with the neon post-its and make them give up their wacky crazy ways.

I lack in having patriotic decorations.  I found this idea on Pinterest, and decided to give it a go. All it took was canvas, red and white paint, painter's tape, and a paper to make a stencil of the US of A on.  Here's what I did:

First, I traced around the map of the US on a piece of paper.  Yes, I could have printed it out, but I was too lazy.
Second, I put stripes on the canvas using painter's tape, and painted red in between the tape stripes.

Third, I cut out the map of the US and taped it onto the canvas once the paint dried.

Fourth, painted to map white.  This took a few coats so the red stripes wouldn't show through.

Finally, I took off the stencil and let the paint dry.  I then took a little bit of blue nail polish and painted a blue heart over Utah (the land that I love).  It was a really easy project, and a great way to show off some patriotism.

You do know, honey, that garbage doesn’t actually talk at all unless it’s on Sesame Street.

Jeremy and I went to a yard sale and scored this beauty:

I was so excited to find such a cute chair.  The seat of the chair was not is great shape though, so I decided to cover it. Here's how I did it.  It was crazy simple!

At Walmart they sell a pack of foam that works perfect for chair cushions.  I put the seat of the chair on the foam and cut the foam to size.

After, I draped the adorable fabric on top of the foam and the seat of the chair.

I turned it all upside down and stapled away, making sure that I pulled the fabric tight as I went.

Here's the finished project.  It took me about a total of 15 minutes.  Talk about a great/easy project!

When you start a forest fire unintentionally, it's still your fault

I feel as though today was a pretty successful day.  I ran a bunch of errands, including a trip to Hobby Lobby where I got a bunch of stuff to make cards.  I decided why buy cards when I can make them.  Here's what I've created so far:
I showed them to Jeremy when he got home. He couldn't stop laughing at the "Hello, how's it going" and the "Happy B-Dizzle" card. His direct quote was, "We're never buying cards again.  I also made a delicious dinner tonight.  I found a blog with a bunch of healthy recipes on it.  Normally I'm weary of healthy recipes because they have a lot of things I don't like in them or they are very time intensive, but this blog has great recipes that are really easy to make.  I made her 3 Cheese Lasagna Roll-ups last night, and I made her Chicken Enchiladas tonight.   Both were delightful.  The website is: www.eat-yourself-skinny.com/  Here's the recipe for the chicken enchiladas:

Skinny Chicken Enchiladas

For the sauce:

2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 can diced green chilis
1-1/2 cups tomato sauce
1 tsp. southwest chipotle seasoning (Mrs. Dash)
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
3/4 cup fat-free chicken broth
Salt and fresh pepper to taste

For the chicken:

1 tsp. vegetable oil
2 chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
1 cup diced onion
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/4 cup fresh cilantro
Salt
1 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. southwest chipotle seasoning (Mrs. Dash)
1/3 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup tomato sauce
8 (6-inch) reduced carb whole wheat flour tortillas
1 cup shredded low-fat Mexican cheese
Nonstick cooking spray

In a medium saucepan, spray oil and saute garlic.  Add green chilis, chipotle seasoning, cumin, chicken broth, tomato sauce, salt and pepper.  Bring to a boil.  Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5-10 minutes.  Set aside until ready to use.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Heat the vegetable oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat.  Saute onions and garlic on low until soft, about 2 minutes.  Add chicken, salt, cilantro, cumin, oregano, chipotle seasoning, tomato sauce, chicken broth, and cook 4 to 5 minutes.  Remove from heat.

Spray a 13 by 9-inch glass baking dish with non-stick spray.  Put 1/3 cup chicken mixture into each tortilla and roll it.  Place in baking dish seam side down.  Top with sauce and cheese.  Cover with foil and bake in the oven on the middle rack for 20-25 minutes.  Top with scallions if desired and enjoy!

**Note: I'm not a huge fan of shredded chicken in enchiladas, burritos, etc. so I diced my chicken.  I also sauted my chicken with the spices and oil to get the flavor in it while it cooked instead of putting it in precooked like the recipe calls for.

Dude, you did good, you really did. But you got a little too close to me when you were singing into the mike.

So, I'm typing this while my husband is doing the dishes.  I just thought I'd brag a bit.  My calling in my ward is Relief Society secretary.  In addition to taking meeting notes and printing sign-up sheets, I have taken on the project of putting together gifts for the Laurels that will be soon joining us in Relief Society.  When I took on this job I asked if they wanted me to make a card to go with the gift.  Of course there was a resounding "yes."  Here's what I came up with (thanks Pinterest):

I think they turned out pretty good!  You can't say you didn't expect something as least a little ridiculous from me.  The presents themselves turned out pretty cute:

What Laurel wouldn't be excited to get this bundle of joy?

It's not like you get a car or a lifetime supply of Rice a Roni.

So last night I went the the DI, and I found this beauty. ^  I couldn't resist the buy when it was only $25.  I took it home, and immediately started to strip it of its parts.  I made Jeremy go buy spray paint with me, and this morning I tackled the project.  I started at 8:00 this morning, and finished up around 2:00 in the afternoon.
This is how it turned out.  I'm quite proud of my work.  After the spray paint purchases the bike totaled out to a whopping $40!  If I wanted to ride it I would need to buy new tires, but the plan is just to get a basket for flowers and use it for decoration.
